Dental Emergency

Dental emergencies can happen suddenly and often bring pain, stress, or uncertainty. At Pemberton Valley Dental, we’re here to provide prompt, compassionate care when you need it most. Whether you’re dealing with severe discomfort, a broken tooth, or unexpected swelling, our team acts quickly to diagnose the problem, relieve pain, and protect your oral health.

Treatments Overview

Toothache

A persistent or severe toothache can signal infection, decay, or nerve involvement. We assess the cause, provide immediate relief, and recommend the appropriate treatment to prevent the issue from worsening.

Gum Pain

Inflamed or painful gums may be due to infection, injury, or trapped debris. We carefully examine the area, remove irritants if needed, and create a plan to restore gum health and comfort.

Dislodged Filling or Crown

When a filling or crown becomes loose or falls out, the exposed tooth can be sensitive and vulnerable. We can temporarily or permanently restore the area to protect your tooth and prevent further damage.

Facial Swelling

Swelling around the mouth or jaw often indicates infection or injury. We evaluate the source, relieve discomfort, and determine whether antibiotics, drainage, or dental treatment is required.

Dental Trauma

Accidents can lead to injured or displaced teeth. We stabilize the area, address pain, and determine next steps—whether that means repositioning the tooth, treating underlying damage, or planning follow-up care.

Tooth Fracture

A cracked or broken tooth can expose the inner layers and cause pain or sensitivity. We assess the extent of the fracture and restore the tooth with bonding, a crown, or other appropriate treatment.

Emergency Dentistry by the Numbers

Dental emergencies are more common than many people realize, and timely care significantly improves outcomes.

0%

Of patients

85% of admitted patients for dental emergencies had a diagnosis of dental infection, such as diseases of the pulp and periapical tissue (e.g., periapical abscess).

0%

Untreated

21% of American adults had untreated decay (2017-2020); about 13% of adults seek care for infections/toothaches over 4 years.

0+

Million

Over 2.26 million school days are missed annually due to dental illness, and tooth decay causes one-third of all day surgeries for young Canadian children.
